FAQs for migrated customers

For our customers that have recently migrated from nlc to SG Fleet, the tips and hints below will help you understand any changes in the way we provide service to you.

SG Fleet will contact you about 6 weeks before your registration renewal is due. If you have sufficient funds available, we can pay the renewal (and any CTP in NSW or Queensland) for you – nothing for you to do. If you don’t have sufficient funds available, you will need to pay your annual renewal fee yourself. When you accumulate sufficient funds in your account, we can reimburse you.

Note: If you are in QLD, SA, or NT, please contact your state authority to add SG Fleet as a paying agent if we aren’t already. If you are unable to do this for any reason, please email your renewal notice through to registration@sgfleet.com

What expenses can I claim?

Most vehicle- related expenses can be claimed as long as they are genuine, and related to the day-to-day running costs and upkeep of your novated lease vehicle. This does not include adding new accessories or improvements to your vehicle (unless they are replacing existing items). Road tolls are not considered running costs and cannot be claimed. Here are some examples of what can and can’t be claimed:

Why can’t I ask SG Fleet to pay an insurance premium for me?

Making payments to third parties on your behalf creates a significant fraud risk. In the interest of protecting your funds, we do not allow this. But we can reimburse you for any annual policy you have paid, as long as you have funds available.

How can I claim a reimbursement for any out-of-pocket expenses?

Log in to Fleetintelligence and submit a request for reimbursement through the ‘activities’ menu. FleetIntelligence will let you know if you have sufficient funds be available. Please remember to update your bank details if they have changed. You can do this any time using ‘manage your online profile’ under your account name in the main menu.

If I don’t have enough available balance for a reimbursement now, what should I do?

Insufficient balance issues may occur where salary deductions start late or are missed, if you are exceeding your projected mileage, or if your running costs are higher than expected. Email us at contractvariations@sgfleet.com if you want to review your available balance, salary deductions, and projected running costs. We may propose revised salary deductions to return your balance to positive and allow the reimbursement.

How is my balance calculated?

Your fund balance with SG Fleet works like a credit card balance. It is made up of:

Current Balance – salary deductions which have been received, less all running costs SG Fleet has paid for your vehicle, including any reimbursements.
Pending Transactions – running costs which SG Fleet has not yet paid but has committed to pay on your behalf, any overdue lease rentals, and the lease rental due in the current month.
Available Balance – The Current Balance, less any Pending Transactions.

Sometimes your available balance can fall too low to support your running costs. Having insufficient balance is usually caused by salary deductions having started late, missed salary deductions, running over your projected mileage or higher than expected running costs.

Why is my current month’s lease rental included as a pending transaction from the start of the month?

Making sure your lease rentals are paid on time is important to protect your credit rating. SG Fleet prioritises paying your lease rental over other costs such as maintenance or reimbursements.

Can SG Fleet include salary deductions I haven’t yet made in my Available Balance?

We don’t take expected payments into consideration until they actually occur. Unfortunately, deductions are sometimes missed due to a variety of reasons, such as leave without pay, changing jobs, payroll errors, or redundancies.

Please also note that we schedule your first lease rental to be in the third month after your lease starts. This gives time to build up a healthy balance before you need to start making rental payments and before we need to take them into consideration.
